Training For Team Leaders

Our combined experiences and exposures to recruitment businesses of all levels and at all stages of their development; one universal fact holds true.  That is, that the vast majority of Team Leaders are team leaders because of two key triggers;

1) They were the longest tenured remaining member of the team
2) They were the one of the ‘biggest billers’ (or at lease a consistently good biller).

This is all well and good; in fact it is a totally logical path to promotion and is in itself not a problem.  The problem is, on this promotion to “leader” there are very few companies that put  those leaders on structured training that aids the leader in their quest to be successful.  This results in a very common issue.  A “catch 22” occurs where the ‘solution’ to growth becomes a problem to growth.  The leader’s personal billings drop (which 9 times out of 10 will have a direct affect to their personal earnings!) and the team itself will not grow as effectively as it could resulting in frustration fro the leader and team members.

Because this is such a wide-spread and common problem we have written specific programmes and created a suite of tools that when applied eradicates the problem and ensures high return and low staff turn-over. As all our training is tailored to your requirements and levels, please call us for a consultation on what specific topics would be most appropriate to you.

To set expectations with anyone reading these topics thinking that a “one day” or indeed “seven day” training programme off the shelf will build Leaders, we at Seal would argue that the building of people at this level where “change” as well as “new skills” is required has to be looked at as a “growth/development programme” over a set and agreed period of time.  Allowing for practice, getting it right and wrong with live case studies before all the learned topics can be touched.

For the building of leaders, we recommend you follow the universal Adult school of learning where we;

  • Train
  • Show
  • Let do
  • Observe
  • Re-train (if wrong) or Praise (if right)
  • Let do again
  • and Review on an ongoing basis

We would then recommend a programme where we would support, coach, mentor the Leaders as they master the art of effective leadership.For further information of any of the above topics, please contact us.
